So the second babe is about half a year old & I am starting to get motivated about losing the baby weight. Between sleepless or near sleepless nights, postpartum depression and hormone swings, and just plain lack of free time, I have been alternately free of motivation to get in shape and frustrated that I am not slimming down.
This week is the first of a journey back to healthy. My weaknesses are sweets and all I can eat of them, lack of exercise time, and mindless, emotion fueled or bored over eating habits.
I hope to conquer those weaknesses and so far this week has been great!
I started calorie counting with a goal of staying 500 cal below my target to stay at my current weight. I am careful to stay hydrated and watching milk output to make sure I don't sabotage it by a strict diet. A friend gave me some workout advice...to work major muscle groups instead of the 30 min aerobic video format I am used to, as I can't find time to do Jillian until baby gets bigger. Also trying to squeeze dance practices in as I can.
So at the Friday after starting this on Sunday I am 1 pound lighter, from 180 on Saturday to 179 on Thursday! having cut 500 or so cal every day and milk output is seemingly unaffected. I get hungry every day before mealtimes and depending on the calorie circumstances I try a healthy snack, or wash the hunger down with cold water.
My goal is to lose about 20 lbs but I will settle for 15. The first 8 weeks I am shooting for 1 lb lost each week. Wish me luck!!!
